Quick Voyager Kettle Update
over 2 years ago – Thu, Aug 12, 2021 at 04:06:14 PM

Good afternoon-

I wanted to provide a brief update as we have been testing our most recent prototype. The main intent of this prototype was to address heat management concerns of past prototypes when running 220V. The updates to the design have been successful in fixing this concern.

We have unfortunately ran into a new set-back while working with certification orgs for UL/ETL/CE. These organizations have new concerns for these types of products due to the combination of hot water and the collapsing body. The concern is around ensuring it is safe and not accidentally collapsed while in use.

We did not anticipate these concerns based on past conversations and are working with them to identify how to best resolve. As soon as we have a solution to address this we will be able to move forward with tooling and a finalized delivery timeline.

I apologize for the continued delays this causes and will provide continued updates to our progress with the certification process.

Thank you very much.

Good afternoon-

I wanted to provide a brief update to what we have been working on with the Voyager Kettle.

As our manufacturing partners have done continued testing with our last prototype, they had concerns with internal heat management due to the dual voltage integration. The concern was around the ability to pass all certifications when running on 210/220V.

We have identified a solution that will only affect a few specific internal components used, and are currently in process of creating an additional prototype to test the updated design and its impact on internal heat management.

This has unfortunately added some delays as this was an unexpected problem with the last prototype.

Our partner is expected to finish building & testing the updated prototype in the next 3 weeks. In addition to this, they will shortly be providing an updated overall timeline.

I will provide an additional update shortly with insight and details on the success of the prototype testing and updated timeline to shipping. I apologize for the additional set-backs and delays as we work to ensure we ship the best product possible.

Thank you very much.

Voyager Kettle Update

Good evening-

I hope everyone is having a great start to their summer. I wanted to provide a brief update on prototype testing and provide some images.

Our manufacturing partners and I have been testing the prototype and are very happy with the results. The main goal of this prototype was to address some shortfalls with handle stability and improve the kettle interface, both of these were accomplished.

We were able to address the handle wobble by adding a spring to the collapsing handle movement. This has allowed it to have a nice tight fit and feel sturdy in the hand.

The interface has been dramatically improved including both visually and functionally. The interface is now more integrated with the rest of the kettle and the dial to set temperature works great. We also integrated the programming of switching between F & C.

The remaining item left to address is dialing in the firmness of the silicone body. This will be done as we progress towards final manufacturing.

We are working through the mold/tooling process now and will provide additional updates as we continue towards fulfilling your pledges.

See pictures of the prototype below and feel free to reach out directly with any questions I can address ([email protected]).

Thank you very much for your continued patience and support as we work to ensure we deliver a quality finished product.

Good morning-

I wanted to provide a brief update as we continue to move towards production for the Voyager Kettle.

We continue to work with Platform88 to finalize the design and ensure it is manufacturing ready. The next step we are taking is producing a final prototype. We added this step in to focus on improving the collapsible handle which needed to have a tighter fit.

I have provided a high-level snapshot of the updated timeline and major next steps we will work through completing (below). I will continue to provide updates for each of these major steps and provide factory images as we complete them.

Thank you very much for your continued patience and support as we work on completing the Voyager Kettle and delivering on our commitments.

Thank you!

Good morning-

I hope everyone is having a great start to the year. We continue to make progress on the Voyager Kettle with our manufacturing partner Platform 88.

The factory engineers where we will do our final manufacturing have continued testing and making the design manufacturing ready. The below rendering shows their updated design that had a few tweaks to make the product more efficient for manufacturing.

(Handle will be black)

The next step is to move into mold design and manufacturing. This process is scheduled to begin on 2/20 and complete on 4/18. We will simultaneously work on other steps as we complete the mold process as well.

We will continue to provide status updates and images as we work through the mold and production testing processes. Thank you all again for your continued patience as we bring the Voyager Kettle to all of you!

Thank you!
